Best Employers for New Canadians 2012

                                       BMO Financial Group employee

Even though the BMO Financial Group boldly excluded themselves from Canada’s Best Diversity Employers, they were however selected as one of the Best Employers for New Canadians 2012. They were given this nomination because of all the groups and associations BMO is actively involved in or support. The following is a list of some of these groups and associations:

  • ACCES, Asian American Coalition of Employees, and participates in their Employment's Speed Mentoring program
  • CPAC, Chinese Professionals Association of Canada
  • BMO Pride, which supports lesbians, gays, bisexuals and the transgendered
  • CBDC, Canadian Board Diversity Council, one of the founding members
  • Partners with JVS Toronto
  • Partners with JOIN, Job Opportunity Information Network
  • Partners with Lime Connect
  • Volunteer Grants program (makes financial donations to organizations where employees and retiree volunteer)
  • Matching Gifts program (matches donations to post-secondary institutions)
Furthermore, one of the BMO Financial Group employees published a guide called, Success in Toronto: A Guide for New Immigrants. This guide was designed to share their personal experiences to the public and to aid any new citizens to Canada. In addition, branch locals of BMO have been known to support various local communities to assist with new Canadians. Thus, it is understandable how BMO was nominated for the recognition as one of the Best Employers for New Canadians 2012

"As a newcomer, I was able to build a professional network through the numerous ACCES speed mentoring events I attended, and it was through this network that I found my job at BMO. Simply said, speed mentoring works."
— Aman N., Analytics Manager

"BMO's close working relationship with the Chinese Professionals Association of Canada reflects our commitment to helping its 27,000 members and Canada's many other newcomers make a successful transition here."
— Adrian C., Director, Multicultural Markets
